Extensiones de Archivos / File Extensions
Nosotros como administradores de sistemas generalmente debemos lidiar con archivos que no conocemos con qué abrirlos o a qué pertenecen. La única pista que tenemos de su origen en la extensión del mismo por eso debemos utilizar servicios como los Computer File Extensions y buscar el paradero de la misma.
Es una base de datos enorme con extensiones de todo tipo y con información detallada de cada una de ellas como diferentes programas que la utilizan. Por ejemplo .doc tal vez la asociemos a Word pero porque es el software mas común utilizado pero hay muchos programas que la utilizan. Así es con el resto de las extensiones o formato de archivos.
La búsqueda es bastante sencilla, sólo debes introducir la misma en el buscador del sitio en su página principal y te llevará a un listado de programas asociado con dicha extensión.
Por ejemplo, en la búsqueda de la extensión .edb conocida por Exchange vemos que no aparece en primer lugar sino recien en el 5to puesto. También ofrece la posibilidad de reparar errores en el archivo con dicha extensión lo cual parece bastante interesante.

Like the System Administrators that we are, we have to deal with files that we didn’t know how to open or to which program belongs. The only thing of their origin that we have is the file extension and that’s why we use services like Computer File Extensions and search about it.
This is a huge database with extensions of all kind and with detailed information of every single one of them like wich program utilize them. For example, .doc maybe we associate this with Word document format because is the most common program, but this is not the only one who use it. Like this there are a lot of extensions.
The search is quite simple, you just need to type the file extension on the text box of the site and it will bring a list of programs to open that extension. For example the image is the result of the .edb file format search and you can see that Exchange is the 5th instead of the first one. Also has the possibility to fix extension errors on the registry and I find that very usefull.
